This was an office interior design for Kappe Inc., a web design and development company based in Chiba City.
The company had been expanding for over ten years. With the establishment of a new structure, the company decided to remodel its large-scale office for the first time. Kappe Inc. was after a design that would fit the company image and its work style.
As projects are always in flux and project teams change, the two work desks for the staff were created as free-address workspaces that can be responsive to such variations.
In the center of the office is the workspace-cum-meeting space for the CTO, who oversees all the projects. Patterns of information flow, whereby information from the surrounding workspaces converges in this area, and decisions made here are transmitted out to each of the projects, have been expressed in a way that is easy to comprehend visually.
The meeting space takes the image of a bright, comfortable living room. The space was created so as to facilitate a change of mood and offer a place to hold meetings in a relaxed manner, even at times when the office is busy.
The company color is blue. A custom-ordered paint was applied in a distinctive painting style, and was painted by the CTO and staff themselves, resulting in wall surfaces of a completely original color.
The actual act of the staff finishing the office themselves was also a major aspect of the office renewal, and resulted in the creation of an office that is a good fit for the company.
